Akari, B.C. – You can’t find a more picturesque location in North America.
It’s located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, near the Arctic Circle.
But, for many, the scenery here isn’t so appealing.
“It’s very much like an old man’s home, a little bit,” says local artist Akari Zadora.
“You know, the whole area is like a cemetery.
You walk in and you feel like you’re in a cemetery.”
The art gallery is a part of the cultural centre of Akari city, a city of about 5,000 people in northern B.M.E. The centre has a museum, a park, and a community centre.
But for most of the population, Akari’s art is what’s left over from the city’s heyday.
“For the majority of us who grew up here, it’s very different from what we see in the big cities,” says Akari resident Ali Gebreay.
“The art is still here, but for most people it’s not as exciting.
It used to be a lot more expensive.
And, even in today’s times, we don’t really know much about this place.”
Akari is known for its beautiful architecture, including the Cathedral of St. Peter in the city centre.
It was also home to the original and most important mosque in the world, built in the 16th century by the Ottoman Empire’s ruler, Abdulhamid II, for the Muslim community.
Today, it is one of the world’s largest mosques.
Akari has an international reputation for its rich and varied culture.
“We don’t just have a lot of different cultures here,” says Gebriay.
He says the town also has a strong indigenous culture, which he says is the main reason why Akari attracts so many visitors.
“There’s a lot that Akari can do, a lot for us,” he says.
“Even if we’re living here, we still have some traditions here.
There’s a strong sense of community.”
Gebrieay says the culture is rooted in the history of the city, with Akari being the cradle of the town.
Akatiq, a word used to describe the people living here at the time, means the people of Akati, a place that also means “the north”.
The term is used to refer to Akari.
In addition to Akatiquan, there are other Aboriginal communities in Akari that are also called Akari or Akari-Yayas.
Gebreyay says AkatiQ and Akati Yayas are the most diverse of the Aboriginal groups in the area.
“People have their own stories and traditions, and we’ve got some traditions that are very different than other people’s traditions,” he explains.
The city has many cultural events. “
Some of those customs and customs are just not in place in other parts of B.N.T. In some places, they’ve been modified or changed, and some of those changes are for the better, but it’s still a very different culture and culture from what’s in other places.”
The city has many cultural events.
It has a weekly folk festival that is the citywide celebration of the Akari culture, as well as the yearly Akari Festival, a celebration of Aboriginal traditions and traditions that occurs in many places in the country.
Gevreyay said that in the last few years, there has been a shift in the way people think about Akari and the people in it.
He said that there’s an increase in the amount of people who are coming to see the festival.
“I think the festival has gotten a little less popular, because people are more focused on what’s happening elsewhere,” he said.
“They’re not really looking at the festival that’s happening in Akati.
And that’s something that we’ve noticed in the past, too.
We think people have changed.”
He said Akari people don’t like to talk about the fact that there are some problems in Akatihi, and that’s because people feel like there are too many people there.
“But there’s a sense of pride in what’s happened here, because Akati is a very special place, and I think people want to know that they’re special,” he adds.
