A 27-year-old Tokyo resident who tried in February to blow himself up with a nail gun was killed by police when he attempted to flee, police said on Monday.
In the hours before his death, Takahiro Sakamoto posted on his Twitter account, “I am going to kill myself.
Please stop calling the police.
Please let me go.”
He had planned to leave Tokyo on Tuesday morning after a brief stay in Tokyo to visit his parents.
The police said Sakamoto was armed with a hammer and a nail, which he used to try to blow a hole in the wall of his apartment in the Akari-city district of Tokyo, killing himself and injuring three other people.
Police found Sakamoto’s car parked outside the building, and his body inside, after he drove off, they said.
