A man in Akari, New York, decided to go a little crazy for his birthday party and gift a $10,000 homewarming gift to his family.
According to the New York Daily News, Michael Lippert took the plunge after his daughter and his wife, Kay, told him he could.
The pair said Lippart, who was a member of the New England Patriots, had just bought them a new $4,000 Porsche 918 Spyder for Christmas.
“We thought it was crazy that we had to spend $5k for this,” Lippitht said in a video posted on YouTube.
“So I thought, what the hell, I’ll just go out and spend that on a housewarming present.”
He also included a $1,000 credit for a new TV, a $500 gift card, and a $25 gift certificate for the home.
“I thought, ‘I have to do this, this is what I’m giving my family,'” Lippitt said.
“They’re so supportive.”
After Lippiths family left the house, he decided to open the gifts up.
“After the family left, I took the money and put it in a box,” he told the Daily News.
“The box was empty.”
The family went to a local pawn shop to get the box for themselves.
Lipphart’s daughter said Lipsons family also received a new pair of boots and shoes.
He said the pair are “absolutely beautiful.”
Lipptt told the New Hampshire Herald he was inspired by the gesture after he saw the ad for a $4.5 million housewarming party.
He explained to the newspaper that he was trying to show that his family can make the biggest and most extravagant Christmas gifts.
“This was a way for my family to be proud of me,” he said.
